The Wi-Fi type is part of the Pro plan. If you need to change the network later, point a dynamic code at a guest page instead.
What the code actually contains
A WIFI: string in the format phones understand: security type, network name, password and a hidden-network flag. There is no URL in it, so no server is contacted and no page is loaded when a guest scans it.
Two fields to fill in
Network name and password. The builder writes a WPA-secured entry, which covers the WPA and WPA2 networks that consumer and small-business routers ship with today.
Special characters handled for you
Backslash, semicolon, comma, colon and double-quote all have meaning inside the WIFI: format. Each is escaped when the string is built, so a password with punctuation in it still joins on the first try.
Works offline, on both platforms
Because the credentials sit in the image, the code works with no connectivity at the scanner end and no companion app. iOS and Android both recognise the format from the native camera.
Know the trade-off
A static code cannot be re-pointed and cannot be counted. If you rotate the guest password, the printed code becomes wrong and has to be reprinted — and no scan of it will ever appear in your analytics.
When to use a dynamic code instead
If the password changes, or you want to know how many guests connect, point a dynamic URL code at a guest page or a Link Hub that shows the current credentials. That code stays valid across password rotations and records every scan.
Branded and print-ready
From Pro, add your colours, a centre logo, corner styles and a frame. Export SVG for table cards, window stickers and room signage so the code stays sharp at any size.
Keep guests off your main network
Put the code on the guest SSID rather than the network your till, printers and back-office machines are on. That is a router setting, not a QR setting, but it is the part people skip.

Can I change the destination of a QR code after printing it?
Yes. Dynamic QR codes use a short redirect URL. You can update the destination from your dashboard at any time without generating or reprinting the code.

QRCode Suite is built with GDPR in mind: raw IP addresses are never stored — visitors are counted with keyed hashes — bot traffic is filtered automatically, and scan events are purged once your plan retention window elapses. Consult your legal team for your specific obligations.
