QR Codes for Product Packaging — Dynamic and Trackable

QR codes on product packaging are only useful if they can be updated as your products evolve. QRCode Suite generates dynamic packaging QR codes in a hosted dashboard — print once, update the destination forever. Track how many customers scan each package, redirect to product pages, warranty forms, or campaign pages, and — with the optional WooCommerce connector on Pro — attribute orders back to the packaging scan that started them.

Dynamic packaging QR codes available on the Free plan (3 codes). WooCommerce attribution and extended analytics require Pro.

Product information and instructions

Link packaging QR codes to detailed product guides, video tutorials, or FAQ pages. Update the content at any time without replacing printed packaging.

Repeat-purchase prompt

When a customer finishes the product, the packaging QR takes them straight to the product page or any reorder URL you control. On Pro and above, the resulting WooCommerce order is attributed back to that scan.

Coupon or discount on next purchase

Use the Coupon Code QR type (Pro and above) to reveal a discount code on scan, or point the code at a pre-filled cart URL. Reward customers for opening a new package and drive repeat purchases.

Review and feedback collection

Direct post-purchase customers to your review platform, or use the Review Collection QR type (Business and above) to host the prompt yourself. Track which products generate review scans and at what rates.

Warranty registration

Replace printed warranty cards with a packaging QR code that links to your registration form — or to a hosted Lead Capture form on Business. Update the destination without touching the packaging.

Seasonal campaign redirect

During a sale or product launch, redirect packaging QR codes to a campaign landing page. After the campaign ends, update the destination back to the product page — no reprint.

How it works

  1. 1

Create a free account and add a dynamic QR code

Create a dynamic URL QR code in the QRCode Suite dashboard. Set the initial destination — product page, reorder link, warranty form, or any URL.

  2. 2

Export PNG or SVG and add to your packaging design

Download a print-ready PNG or scalable SVG. Your designer or print supplier adds it to the packaging artwork. The QR code is permanent — it never expires.

  3. 3

Print and distribute — the QR code is locked

Once printed, the QR code itself does not change. But the destination it points to can be updated from your dashboard at any time.

  4. 4

    Update destination as campaigns change

When a product page URL changes, a campaign ends, or you want to point at a reorder flow, update the QR destination from your dashboard. No new print run needed.

  5. 5

    Track packaging scan analytics

Every scan is recorded first-party — device type, approximate country, date, and time. Raw IPs are never stored (only an HMAC-SHA-256 hash) and bot traffic is filtered out. Retention: 30 days on Free, 12 months on Pro, 24 on Business, 36 on Agency.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put QR codes on product packaging?

Yes. QRCode Suite generates high-resolution SVG and PNG QR codes suitable for print. Dynamic QR codes let you update the linked destination after printing — useful if a URL changes post-production.

What information can I encode in a packaging QR code?

Common packaging uses include product detail pages, how-to videos, warranty registration, reorder links, coupon codes, and nutrition or safety information — all editable after the packaging is printed.

How small can a QR code be on packaging and still scan reliably?

QR codes should be at least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 × 0.8 inches) for reliable scanning by smartphone cameras. QRCode Suite generates SVG output for lossless scaling to any print size.
